| I'm
a 1st degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. I go to The
Planet Than Phong Martial Arts. Tae Kwon Do, it has
a great impact on my life.... No no, I don't go around the school
fighting people. It is more like a way of thinking. It's all
about adjusting to your opponent and surroundings. Be aware
of yourself. Know you limits. Never let your guard down, be
ready for the worst. Never ever underestimate another and vise-versa. |

To
me the sparring, or 'fighting,' is the most important thing.
Tae Kwon Do is for self defense, and I treat it that way. What
happens if someone tries to mug me with a knife, or I get jumped
by some jerks, or someone is being mugged? Tae Kwon Do is what
will save me and possibly someone else. Normally when someone
gets jump, they don't know how to defend themselves. If I am
in a 'bad' situation, I can fight back and I can get away if
needed. Many people think that Tae Kwon Do is like a weapon
that you can use on another, it isn't, it is for self defense. |

| I
like Tae Kwon Do very much, no one really understands why. Hey
I don't even know why I like Tae Kwon Do so much. So many things
account for the way anyone like or dislikes a thing. I see Tae
Kwon Do as relaxing, at least afterwards. In Tae Kwon Do, I
have built a lot of stamina and agility. Physically and mentally
I'm stronger with Tae Kwon Do. It is because of the rigorous
training I get by going to practice. I feel like I can conquer
my opponents. I don't fear change, because the key to being
successful is learning how to adapt to situations. In Tae Kwon
Do I face that often, by facing new people, learning how to
do a new technique (kick or a jump), or just by adjusting to
changes in the style of Tae Kwon Do I am doing, which has happened
several times. In Tae Kwon Do, I am surrounded, by bright people,
who are very successful. Being in that kind of atmosphere makes
me feel calm and safe. I recently got in a fight, and Tae Kwon
Do really payed off. The guy tried to jump me with several of
his friends. Obviously the guy didn't know my abilities. He
and his friends got banged up pretty bad. Because of the training
I have been in I was calm. A normal person would have not known
how to react and probably been hurt. |
